Experience the action that is the eighth annual Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) by coming down to Langley Park, in the City of Perth, from 23 – 25 November 2018.
This exciting free community event showcases amazing real-life demonstrations of emergency rescue by emergency response volunteers from across WA. With a record 18 competing teams, sixty sponsors and over 120 volunteers, MERC 2018 will be the biggest MERC to date! This year the next generation of emergency responders, WA junior firefighting cadets, will be also be demonstrating their skills in an interactive display.
MERC provides valuable skill building opportunities for volunteer mines rescue teams, by providing a series of realistic scenarios, simulating real life events, covering all emergency response disciplines; road crash rescue, hazardous material response, vertical rescue, firefighting, confined space, emergency team readiness and first aid.
Bring the kids as the event caters for all ages, with plenty of free activities for the kids, including rock climbing, face painting, bouncy castles, fire hose target games and colouring-in competitions.
