The Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) is an annual event that aims to improve safety at mine sites across Western Australia by providing an avenue for emergency response teams to train, share best practices and test their skills and readiness.
Held over two days on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November 2022, at Langley Park in Perth, the event will see over fourteen teams compete, in seven different live scenarios performed under pressure.

The MERC is a great opportunity for FIFO families and people interested in emergency response management to gain an insight into how emergency response teams operate in simulated real life emergency situations. Bring the family down to cheer on the competing teams and enjoy a range of activities including a fire truck train ride, bouncy castle, climbing wall and displays by the State Operational Logistics Support – Task Force; Department of Fire & Emergency Services Bushfire Cadets and the Wellbeing Hub by the Blue Tree Project.
