This volunteer portal is a starting point to assist with preparations for your volunteer role at the MERC. Volunteers are the backbone of our event and we simply couldn’t do it without you.

We are currently matching our volunteers to the many and varied roles we have at MERC – it’s a tough job! Every effort is made to fulfil your preference and we will be in touch with you via email to confirm your role.

Once you have been allocated a role, your Event or Area Manager will be in touch to advise of your role’s requirements.

Key Dates

  • FRIDAY 11TH AUGUST – Marketing Assets checked

    • You’ve checked the MERC Website and confirmed your logo and link to your company website are both correct, or
      • you’ve sent us the necessary updates for us to change
    • You’ve provided your approved content and imagery for MERC social media

  • FRIDAY 25TH AUGUST 2023 – Merchandise Ordered

    • Your Merchandise order has been submitted online and we have all your sizes and quantities

  • FRIDAY 25TH AUGUST 2023 – Site Logistics confirmed

    • Your marquee and space requirements are confirmed for the site plan including Public Liability forms

  • FRIDAY 1ST SEPTEMBER 2023 – Sponsor Sundowner tickets ordered

    • You have RSVP’d your attendance to this event

  • Polo shirts are available in ladies, mens and childrens sizes.

Team Zones

Each team will be allocated:

  • 10m x 10m area on the grounds
  • 3m x 3m marquee
  • 1x tear-drop banner with team name and logo

Additional team banners and mascots are welcome within the allocated team bay.
Equipment trailers can be parked adjacent to the team tent for the duration of the event.

Teams are requested to provide the following:

  • Esky
  • Additional bottled water as required
  • Chairs (a limited number of chairs will be available, it is preferred teams provide their own)
  • Sunscreen
  • Snacks
  • Rubbish bags

MERC would not proceed without the support of the City of Perth and we would appreciate you acknowledging this by respecting the park and grounds. Star pickets are not to be used at Langley Park.

Teams are responsible for keeping their marquee free from rubbish. Bins will be located around the competition grounds.

Security will be on-site, out of competition hours, however it is recommended any equipment or valuables removed from the grounds.

Please note that in the interest of safety, participants and spectators are not permitted on the competition apparatus before or after the conclusion of daily events.

Catering & Hydration

Lunch
All team members (eight) will be provided with lunch on Saturday and Sunday of the Competition.

General
Hot beverages, snacks, soft drinks and bottled water will be available for purchase, from onsite food vendors.

Recycling
Please note that there will be recycling bins on the grounds. Any funds raised from recycling of bottles will be donated to the Blue Tree Project.

Parking

  • Teams will have allocated parking for equipment trailers only.
  • All other vehicles will need to be parked in the City of Perth car park located across from the grounds.
  • Parking on the competition grounds is strictly prohibited and parking infringements will be issued to offending vehicles.
  • The grounds will be fully fenced, with access only from the main entrance gate on Plain Street.
  • Limited street parking bays are available on Terrace Road.
  • The closest City of Perth carpark is located on Plain Street.
  • Please note there is a cost associated with parking in the CBD.

Friends & Family Attendance

Observers 
MERC is a free event, open to the public.  Family and friends are encouraged to attend the competition and observe events. Observers must stay behind the fenced areas and under no circumstances enter the secure scenario areas.  Please inform family and friends of these regulations.

MERC will have an interactive display area, a mini expo and a dedicated kids’ area.

Please advise family and friends to come dressed for the outdoor event with hats, sunscreen and sunglasses. Scenarios will have stadium type seating available for watching the action.
