VOLUNTEER PORTAL

Welcome

This volunteer portal is a starting point to assist with preparations for your volunteer role at the MERC. Volunteers are the backbone of our event and we simply couldn’t do it without you.

We are currently matching our volunteers to the many and varied roles we have at MERC – it’s a tough job! Every effort is made to fulfill your preference and we will be in touch with you via email to confirm your role.

Once you have been allocated a role, your Event or Area Manager will be in touch to advise of your role’s requirements.

If you are unable to attend or have any queries, please contact Rikki Glen on 08 6155 4908 or volunteers@themerc.com.au as soon as possible.

We have created a checklist of volunteer key dates for you to download and print so you don’t miss any of the key deadlines.

Kind regards,
MERC Committee

Full Schedule

At the Competition

All volunteers are required to wear a MERC polo shirt each day of the competition. As this is a two-day event, and clothes washing may be difficult, you may wear a MERC polo shirt from a previous year. Long trousers and closed-in shoes are a must for ALL volunteers.

All volunteers will be provided with a 2022 MERC polo shirt and hat, available for collection as follows:

  • Monday to Wednesday, 21 -23 November 2022 – Partner&Prosper, Located at Level 1, 76 Roberts Street, Osborne Park, between the hours of 8.30am to 4.30pm
  • Friday, 25 November 2022 – Langley Park, Site Admin Office

If you did not order your shirt or hat, we will do our best to accommodate your sizing.

Your Event Manager will let you know if there is any specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for your role.

Lunch

All volunteers will be provided with lunch on Saturday (donated by Rapid Relief) and Sunday (sponsored by BIA5). There will also be a range of food vendors at the event that you can purchase from.

Alcohol Policy
For the purposes of the MERC, the Langley Park competition grounds are a work area and therefore all volunteers are required to have a blood alcohol concentration level of 0.00%. The organising committee may conduct random alcohol upon any competing team member, official or volunteer without notice. Disciplinary action can be taken based on the individual circumstances if a competing team member, official or volunteer fails to be fit for work.

Recycling
Please note that there will be recycling bins on the grounds. Any funds raised from recycling of bottles will be donated to the Blue Tree Project.

Parking on the competition grounds is strictly prohibited and parking infringements will be issued to offending vehicles. The grounds will be fully fenced, with access from the main entrance gate on Plain Street only.

Limited street parking bays are available on Terrace Road and the closest City of Perth carpark is located on Plain Street. Please note there is a cost associated with parking in the CBD. For more information visit City of Perth Parking.

MERC is a free event open to the public. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the competition and cheer on the competing teams. The general public must stay behind the fenced areas and under no circumstances enter the secure scenario areas. Please inform family and friends of these regulations.

For further information on the event click here.

Please advise family and friends to come dressed for the outdoor event with hats, sunscreen and sunglasses. Scenarios will have stadium type seating available for watching the action.
