Experience the action that is the ninth annual Mining Emergency Response Competition (MERC) by coming down to Langley Park, in the City of Perth, from 22 – 24 November 2019.
This exciting free community event showcases amazing real-life demonstrations of emergency rescue by emergency response volunteers from across WA. MERC has established itself as a premium industry event in the states resources safety calendar, each year bringing new technology, innovation and information to share with the wider community.
MERC provides valuable skill building opportunities for volunteer mines rescue teams, by providing a series of realistic scenarios, simulating real life events, covering all emergency response disciplines; road crash rescue, hazardous material response, vertical rescue, firefighting, confined space, emergency team readiness and first aid.
We are excited to be welcoming a bigger volunteer community to this years event through a partnership with the Association of Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades (AVBFB). We will be hosting the 2019 Bush Fire Games where Volunteer Bush Fire Teams will participate in their own competition events across the MERC weekend. This collaboration is a celebration of volunteers who work in and support our communities across the state. For more information visit www.bushfiregames.org.au
While the weekend is based around the competition, there is so much more on offer. Bring the kids as the event caters for all ages, with plenty of free activities for the kids, including rock climbing, face painting, bouncy castles, fire hose target games and colouring-in competitions.
